Marije and I spent this beautiful June day on the trail, we haven’t had a lot of sunny days yet so we made the most of this one, walking from Torbay to Flatrock and back again over Father Troy’s Trail. Along the way we saw many June specialties, such as young birds, young squirrels and young whales, also lots of bugs and wildflowers.

Let’s start the images off with a weird orange ball:

I shot this wondrous image with my recently acquired solar filter, you can see a few sunspots on the right side of the sun, just for your information: those things are bigger than our entire planet.

The next image is more down to earth, it’s Marije on the trail:

On the Beamer we saw lots of bugs, among them these two copper green beetles, they were enjoying the day in their very own way:

Here’s one of the many squirrels we saw today. So cute:

The whales were pretty far off in most places we looked for them, with the exception of Torbay itself. Both on the way in and out we had excellent views of a big humpback close to Tappers Cove:

After the hike we enjoyed a lovely dinner and when we returned from that, we saw a bright light move through the sky to our north, it was the International Space Station! A splendid sight like that was the perfect end to a day like today.
