Another fine day on Fogo Island, we walked the short but beautiful Lion’s Den Trail that runs over the hills just east of the town of Fogo:

Like the map says, the trail runs past ‘abandoned villages, hills and breathtaking panoramas’. Eastern Tickle is one of the abandoned villages, it used to be right here:

Blueberries were absolutely everywhere on the trail, they were big and juicy too. Raspberries were less abundant but the ones we did find were as tasty as the blueberries:

The last lookout is called Lane’s Lookout, it’s a bit of a climb but it rewards the hiker with a view of almost everything he has seen thus far (provided you were walking in a clockwise direction). In the next shot you can see the view from up there, which shows the town of Fogo in the background, including Brimstone Head in the middle:

In the end we all decided it was another great hike on a another great day, just ask the highest man on Fogo Island:
