Long time readers of this blog know that throughout the year I get excited about a great deal of things; capelin and whales being the most obvious ones. However, every year my biggest hope is to see a good show of sea ice on our east coast. We were lucky to have it come down our way in early April 2009, then again in early April 2012, and obviously I’m hoping we’ll see it again this year!

Here’s a very early look at this year’s ice, you can just make it out below the clouds:
