In the summertime, squirrels in the forest are very alert, often sounding the alarm long before you spot them. Right now in the fall it’s a slightly different story, some squirrels are still vocal but many of them are busy looking for food and preparing for winter. Sometimes you’ll walk by one and it won’t even look up let alone call out to you.

The little guy shown above was preparing for the coming winter too, he only took notice of me when I got within two metres.
