Here’s a nice change from all the creatures catching capelin, a northern goshawk on top of a snowshoe hare.
I walked in on this scene on the way back from a day on Motion Path. The goshawk clearly wasn’t happy with my intrusion, but as you can see the bird was having its meal in the middle of the road… I had no way of getting around it. I got closer and closer, ever so quietly, until the raptor got too nervous and took to the sky dragging the carcass along the trail for as long as it could hold on. After that I quickly passed so the bird could get back to its dinner.
