With a sweltering 26 degrees Celsius, today was a great day to be out on the water. So that’s where I was:
We weren’t the only ones interested in the icebergs, there were several aircraft buzzing around too, adding some scale to this picture:
And we’re back in the harbour again:
lucky YOU! π
Yes I am! I hiked Blackhead Path (where these bergs are) in the morning and I figured I’d get a better look at them from the boat tour π
Cool!
What boat tour did you use please?
This trip was with Iceberg Quest, one of the two operators that depart from St. John’s, the other one being Dee Jay Charters.
Before you hop on a tour boat yourself, have a look at the bay from Signal Hill to check if the icebergs are still there, I checked this morning and all five bergs I saw yesterday were still in roughly the same spot, so that’s good news.
Cool, thanks for that info. π
We went to Signal Hill on Monday & the berg was just one, walked the dogs up there yesterday and it had gone right across the harbour and broke up.
Do you know if you can see it clearly over at Cape Spear or Fort Amhurst?
It’s hard to judge the distance from the top of Signal Hill. π
The boat went past Fort Amherst and even though technically you can see the berg from there, it’s way too far out for a good look. From the town of Blackhead however, you can get a really good look.
Thankyou for the info.
Drove out to Blackhead yesterday and saw the bergs. π
It was a bit chilly on the trail though!
I felt the same chill, temperatures are up and down this week…
Wonderful shots……..looks like you had a beautiful day as the colors are very sharp.
Yes it was a gorgeous day, so gorgeous I was expecting much more people on the boat, but it was pretty quiet…
