Marije and I spent a long weekend in Twillingate, it was our first trip together since way before we even moved to Newfoundland. The ‘goal’ of this little vacation was to relax, maybe see some icebergs, and to generally just have a good time.

We succeeded on all counts, but instead of telling you about it I’ll just insert a bunch photos here. First, some ice:

In Comfort Cove I spotted a mink about to enjoy lunch:

This mink proceeded to scarf down the whole fish and got himself another one, totally unfazed by us.

On the way home, we spotted five Atlantic white-sided dolphins near Summerford. We immediately got out of the car and watched for over an hour as they put on a great show:

This whole time they were swimming tight circles in the cove, corralling fish into shallower waters. From time to time they came within five metres of us and popped up their heads to see what we were up to:

After a while we had to say goodbye, even though the dolphins were still at it. On the rest of the way home we stopped two more times to stretch our legs, here’s some nice scenery from Newtown:

Closer to home, in Gambo, the fall colours were bright and attractive:

And that’s basically it for this weekend, we arrived back in Torbay well after nightfall, now I’m just looking forward to a good night’s rest.
