Torbay beach

This week we finally had some ice in the bay, the ice we saw (and tasted) was freshwater ice and came from the far away glaciers in the Baffin Bay (just like the big icebergs). Yesterday the entire bay of Torbay was filled right up to the shoreline (see above), both me and Marije jumped on a large piece (see below) that had almost grounded on the beach. Today, we even saw a huge iceberg on the horizon, our first real sighting but nothing to get excited about because it was too far away.

Just in case you’re interested, here is a good website for reading up on icebergs in Newfoundland: icebergfinder
